Reply with quote | #1 | Hi
I have a 9 year old disabled daughter, are the showers any good for disabled access, or is she going to just be a smelly bum for the weekend x |

Reply with quote | #2 | Hi sara. wolifie is in a wheelchair and has ataxia in the right leg . Getting around the site was fine although if it had rained the whole time the story would of been different. You dont say if your daughter is in a chair or not for the benifit of this i will assume she is. Unless the management have taken on board the suggestions made while we were there (promising to meet with wolfie but not turning up is not a good sign). The toilet door opens inwards and if memory is correct does not open from outside nor was their an alarm. There is only one hand rail and no drop down rail . the toilet is raised on a plinth which when we were there was loose hopefully at least that was fixed. The shower was a normal shower tray raised up also on a plinth the cubicle did have a drop down seat but was a bit on the narrow side so it was a good job wolfie had not needed to shower as it would not of been possible. I would say there is a good chance you might have a smelly urchin on your hands ,that being said as your lass is only 9 im guessing that you will be able to lift her in and out of the shower if not there will be plenty of willing hands to help. I f i havent covered everything please feel free to ask more. bb john & wolfie

Reply with quote | #4 | No problem dan better to get it warts and all than not at all so many places say there disabled friendly and arent in many respects (like mcdonalds on liverpool street station wolfie couldnt even fit the chair in the loo,) Just had a brainwave (light headed now) if the management have not got round to sorting out the situation perhaps they could be persuaded to have a porta disabled toilet for the next camp they do exist (the type on building sites not a ful blown porta cabin type) unlikely im guessing but you never know. bb john& wolfie

Reply with quote | #7 | Thanks for the info, my daughter is only 9 so i know we will be ok, it wont hurt if she doesnt shower for a few days. She will be propably be to busy watching the world go by.
We have a three wheeler buggy for the terrain, so we should be fine. Ok im already getting excited. x |
